interested in full time executive MBA from reputed institue. preferably in india

GMAT Planned in October

I am am aiming to shape up my career towards the TOP managerial role for which I want to be more prepare with knowledge as well as I want to get those opportunities coming my way.

Please suggest if my decision to take up EMBA will help me to achieve my aim in next 5 years.

Also I want to know how strong is my profile to get through top india/UK institutes for EMBA.

I am already 10+ years running and by the time I will apply I will be 11+ years work exp. Is it too late for me ? Top india institues like IIMs do consider professionals beyond 11/12 years work exp ?

Please let me know whether the MBA for executives (Ex: IIMs,ISB, or international schools etc) provide family accommodations ?

Sorry for asking too many questions but will request you to answer patiently.
Thanks in advance. :)
The value of an EMBA programs (being part-time in nature) depends a lot on how your current employer (as opposed to the general market) perceives them.

If your plan is to use the degree to go up the value chain in your current organisation, it'll be good for you to have a little tete-a-tete with your HR department as well as your manager. You'll have a better idea of whether you should go down that route.

Moving to full-time programs, it's late for all 2 year courses and most one year programs. IMD and PGPX type of options are still there to try out.

All full-time residential programs offer family accomodation, as long as you are willing to pay extra for those facilities. So, that shouldn't be too much of a concern.

Thanks for the response Sir.

Allow me to elaborate a little regarding my profile in order to give you a better idea.
After completing my BTech in Industrial Production, I was placed through campus in Mahindra in July 2010. After undergoing training for 6 months, i was inducted in the international business vertical wherein i was looking into channel development for 4 West African countries. After spending 2.5 years in those markets i was based in Nepal for a period of 1 year to oversea an ambitious project of driving 2X growth in volumes via channel expansion, customer engagement and driving ATL/BTL activities. The overall experience left me wanting for more and play with a more mature channel.
I took a transfer in domestic vertical and held responsibility for overseeing some of the biggest dealers we have. I was there for one year looking after the states of Haryana and J&K. While being there i got an opportunity to work for Tata Motors to develop their Rural channel in Rajasthan. I have been here for the past 8 months.

To put it rather crudely, my objective behind going for an MBA is to further enhance my learning in the field of channel development and be more capable for these modest businesses i am involved with i.e. my channel.

Does it make a good case for pursuing MBA?
How would an MBA from say IIM-L, XLRI or SP Jain help my cause? Do i have a shot at these institutes?
Also, as you suggested, i looked around a bit for the 1 year MBA programs in Europe.
Do i have a shot at let's say one of the top 10 colleges in Europe? If yes, then how should i proceed?

Thanks sameer for your prompt response.

I am not looking for EMBA part time programs rather looking for full time 1 year mba for experienced professionals offered by iims ISB etc.

Considering my profile is there chances to get calls from these institutes if I can get a good GMAT score?

I have been doing project manager kind of role but now I want to move to business leader strategy or operational management ......not looking to achieve the same in the current organization in near future :) ..... expecting after mba will get offers of this kind of roles to join from other organizations directly...Please let me know if my thinking is on wrong direction....

Good to see that you have had international experience. That's one aspect that many Indian sales/marketing professionals yearn for.

Strengthens the case for an international MBA for you where you can learn from your multi-cultural peers. Even if you plan to return to India after graduation, it'll help you more than an Indian MBA.

If I can let off some steam here, Dipa, this EMBA vs MBA confusion is a constant source of grief for most folks (bschools, alumni, current students, consultants) that undermines the value and positioning of the degree.

Here's something to keep in mind as you evaluate whether an MBA is right for you at this stage.

Career transitions are easier earlier on in the career. As the experience level goes up, there is a greater incentive for employers to hire professionals in skills that have already been proven. An MBA can help to some extent, but by itself it will not automatically get companies to offer senior level roles.

Reference ID: Asma720
BSc. in Computer Science and Engineering.
expecting around GMAT 680
4 years mainly Education and Training

1- I am Pakistani women, mother of two kids and grew up in village.
2- I started my business and running form last 3.5 years after I had kids
3- I volunteer and work for education importance in my village by giving lectures and supporting school fee of students
4- I''ll get Canadian PR by September, may be an edge for Canadian School

1- I am under confident about my profile consistency, I don't see it extra ordinary? I don't have any big company on my profile so no corporation level experience, How to handle that?
2- what is best way to give uniformity to my profile, As an Academia person? But I am not sure how business school will look my profile as then there is shift to a business later in my profile. Profile doesn't depict what does person want, I want to enchain all the experience
3- My goal is to be serial entrepreneur as well as joining some big tech companies to be in their creative unit like product design or some other innovative unit. Management Consultancy is also in my focus as it will bring me to industry problems and I would have a chance to learn business from a leader's point of view. .
Some of my friend suggest me to put goal of joining Education non profit after MBA, it will be aligned with your profile and experience.
So I need an advise on best way of putting my thought in purposeful way so it doesn't look tangled to ad com. I would appreciate your insight on above
More than big company names, Adcoms want to see what you've done in your role and the various responsibilities associated with it. You've been working abroad. And managing kids and a demanding career. That's a plus.

Being in academia brings up a different set of challenges, that others who've worked in corporate roles won't have. The top one will be whether you'll fit into the corporate culture.

Folks graduating from Canadian bschools already have an edge in terms of getting work permits. So I don't think the PR will make much of a difference.

The other big hurdle I see at this stage (apart from age, as you've also probably guessed) is that your goals are all over the place. That's not good. You'll need to get more specific about what you really want to do. Don't go with what your friends suggest. Spend some time introspective and researching each field that you've mentioned and then choose one.

9.5 Years Senior System Engineer, 8 Years Overseas experience in Electrical Automation and Oil&Gas Industry in Engineering , commissioning , testing and service
GMAT Estimated 700 , TOEFL 100
One year MBA from ISB , IIM A or B or MIM from NUS/NTU/Cornell/Northwestern/UIUC

My experience is mostly in execution / engineering . Not much into management .

I need to decide if ISB / IIM is suitable with my minimum experience in management ?

My plans are to settle in India either mostly in clean tech or smart grids area , Is 70,000 $ justified for US MiM program ? But the reputation and course content is tempting me to choose them ( If I am not able to make it to ISB/IIM)

NTU /NUS MiM in Technology and Innovation is seems to be very good with respect to brand , course content and cost (around SG 50K including tuition and living)
For your experience, I think you'd be aiming too low with MiM which is mainly meant for freshers. And your $70K would be better saved for other (more relevant) programs.

A better idea would be to target some decently ranked 1 year international MBA programs along with your India targets.

The TOEFL score seems quite low.

GRE / TOEFL / IELTS :: not yet given

As a faculty member in an engineering college am i eligible to pursue MBA in other countries.
No issues with the eligibility. However, there can be an issue with the 'why MBA' and 'why now' questions in the application. And you haven't addressed either of these questions in the details.

Also, your plan to target Sept 2016 classes will be impractical, since the application deadlines have pass and you don't have a score either.

The earliest you can think about is Sept 2017, if you are targetting programs with a Fall intake.

4+ Years,Currently working as an Assistant Professor
GRE(Q139 V149) 21st APRIL 2016

I have to ask whether these scores in GRE will help me to seek admission in a college for MBA.
If I score better then would i be able to get some scholarship from a particular college.
Can i apply for the same university more than once like for HEC Montreal,Canada there are 3 cycle of intakes,So whether i can apply in all the three if i don't get accepted once.
I've addressed some points in the response above that may be relevant to you.

Moving to the other queries.

The GRE score is too low for most good programs. A re-take is highly recommended. Try the GMAT if the GRE is a tough nut to crack for you.

You can apply multiple times to most bschools, but only once in a season. So, you can't apply in Round 1 and Round 2 and Round 3. You'd have to pick one Round.

B.B.M ( Finance), 740 GMAT ( Estimated)
2 years and 3 months at Family Business
Full Time MBA, Singapore/ USA

I'd please like to know if my profile is well suited for an MBA with SMU/ NUS at Singapore and the top 20 universities in the USA? If not, what it is that I can do to bridge the gap between where I am now and where the adcoms would potentially expect me to be?
My post MBA plans are either:
1) Work with an investment bank in the PWM department (eg- Goldman Sachs)
2) Work with a leading fashion company in the Finance department (eg- Micheal Kors)
Check up on the eligibility criteria for your target schools, since some may expect 16 years of education. It could save you plenty of heartburn knowing you are headed in the right direction.

There are several open points that make it tough to know your overall positioning. Listing them below:

- You haven't shared about what your family business is about (investment and private wealth management services?) and what's your role in it.

- It's also not clear what you did at E&Y, when and for how long.

- Options 1 and 2 that you've shared have very different career trajectories.

If you've already done PWM, why can't you just apply to a bigger company and continue doing it?
For option 2, what's the relevance of making the role specific to the fashion industry?

For any shot at the top schools, your overall pitch needs to be more logical and sharper.
