Thank you for the quick response. I want to avoid GMAT re-take, as I have to handle my work load while preparing for the test. I was of the impression that my multi-cultural work experience will help me get to the Top 10. The following are the schools in my mind: Columbia, Tuck, Sloan, Stanford, Haas and Wharton. Just to confirm, will a better score be a good boost for my profile? If yes, what is the score to target?

For the programs you've listed, Adcoms get applicants who are strong in every single department.

If one of the components can't pull its own weight, the reliance on the other components to make a bigger impact increases manifold.

For Indian applicants, the only safe zone for GMAT scores it to be higher than the averages published by the respective programs. And it's not just that one factor that'll get you in (or out) of the game.

Given your experience level, you have time on hand. If re-taking the test isn't an option, you could try your hand at some of these programs this season. If you don't get the results you expected, then consider taking some time off and focussing on strengthening the profile.

I wish to get a regular full time MBA , as i want to move towards business management from technology product development, I am planning to apply to IMD , IIM A,B,C, INSEAD and LBS .

I am also retaking the test and hope to cross 720. Can you please suggest some other school where i could be a good fit and can move towards management role in technology domain.

Whats MCB's success rates with the schools that i target or the one's which you might suggest is one more question that i had. Thanks !
You've listed most of the good programs where you'd fit. There are others that aren't exactly in the mainstream, but quite popular among mature candidates - like Sloan Fellows, Stanford MSx.

You may want to explore this list as well: https://www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2012 ... ba-in-usa/

On our blog, you'll find stories of folks with high experience who've got into MBA programs. But don't take any of that at face value and assume that things are easy.

Hiring a consultant will probably increase the odds of getting in, but there are no guarantees, since the options are limited and competition is high.

GMAT 650 [estimated]

1. I've fees constraint. I can bear up to 15 lacs and for the rest of the money how to arrange? Can't avail loan because have nothing to put as mortgage.
2. How is EDHEC-Paris' placement scenario? Is it advisable to pursue global MBA over there? I want to pursue global leadership track.
3. Will the recruiters recruit me in some other domain except insurance? I want to switch.
Some bschools have tie-ups with local banks to provide education loans. Alternatively there are options such as this one that provides education loans without mortgage.

The better way is to get scholarships. But with your expected GMAT score, that route might not be practical.

The program is not as highly ranked as the others in Paris like INSEAD, HEC. Current students will be able to give you a better picture of placement scenario.

Many MBA students are able to manage a change of industry and/or role. However, it's easier when your experience before MBA has some overlap with the new role.

1) Does my profile with 8 years work ex suit the MBA pool?
2) Would my high number of years of experience affect my candidature.
3) Post MBA, would the placement cell look at my overall experience or I would have to start from scratch.
4) Is it too late to start preparing for Fall 2017?
For one year programs (like the ones in Europe), it will fit well. Here's the story of someone with a similar profile:
https://www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2011 ... ess-story/

Yes, the experience level will matter in your applications as well as during placements. A lot will also depend on your post MBA plans. e.g. which industry you want to get into and in what role.

Have you thought about those aspects?

Whether it's late or not will depend on how far you are on the GMAT prep process.

How much are you expecting on the GMAT? When do you plan to take it?

I am planning to retake the GMAT. is it advisable? If yes,by when should I retake the exam?
What should be the target score with my profile to get into the Top B-Schools?
Any suggestions(like retaking GMAT) to strengthen my application?
Retaking the GMAT is definitely advisable. It doesn't sync up with your CGPA, or the undergrad brand.

Around 750 is a solid zone. Above 700 is a good zone.

Apart from the GMAT, you can also work on the work experience, which I agree is unique, but currently low by industry averages.

If you can hold back to the application plans for a year or two more, I'm guessing you'd have many more interesting aspects to highlight.

Full time MBA and MS

1. Will be 30 next year - am I too old for US ? Would be happy with double switch i.e Country and function - happy with Big 4 industry and want to be part of Advisory/Consulting group in US

2. Brother citizen of USA since 3 years, initially I was not keen on MBA but due to recent events and family goals of moving would like to take up masters

3. Cleared partner rounds for a move to Audit in San Francisco however did not have 150 credits needed to be Manager or eligible for California CPA. Any good Macc programs for me to get a lateral/experienced hire in the west coast?

4. Ultimate goal is restart career or reboot Audit career in USA, few years work and then move into FS industry - preferable alternatives
You'll be moving closer to the outlier range for American bschools.

For non mainstream programs, you are more likely to come across stories like these:
https://www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2015 ... mat-score/
https://www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2015 ... n-fellows/

Instead of another accounting oriented course, a broad-based MBA may be a better choice.

Since you already have an exposure to the audit field, moving into another Big 4 role may be easier.

You've included MS programs too, apart from MBA. Why is that?

1. I want to do mba from ISB. Is my profile seem suitable for it?
2. I am not so strong financially and is more interested in 1 year MBA full time programs. Should i look for outside india? If yes, which schools?
3. How can you help me in achieving my dream of studying in a top notch university.
ISB would be a good target if you've set your eyes on Indian bschools.

Many international bschool students finance their degree with education loans. So, not having 100% of the funds in your bank right now should not be deterrent.

For candidates with your profile, the US has many optons to choose from. Not to mention the possibilities of getting a generous helping of scholarships, if you play it well.

Of course, you still need to worry about the implications of taking a big loan, and the various post-MBA scenarios.

What we can do to help is explained on our Services page.

10 years experience in IT,
Full-time MBA and MS in Business Analytics / MiM programs

Is 10+ years of experience in technical field makes a weak profile for MBA application in good business schools?
Will the voluntary experience in NGO for so many years will leverage the profile?
What are the chances of getting at least into any of the top 20 B-schools? Please mention Expected GRE score for the same.
If it’s too hard to get into B-School then will the plan for MS in Business Analytics first and later (after say 2 yrs) applying for MBA in US will work?
Most applicants with your experience will have managerial and leadership exposure. Not having it in an official capacity after 10 years can raise questions.

Yes, your NGO experience will help. But it cannot be used as an alternative to formal & mainstream exposure.

As you might've seen from the numerous responses we've given to the question about chances, it's a speculative query that doesn't help.

A more productive way forward would be to focus on doing your best with every single aspect in your control and go ahead with a few strong applications.

Don't look at MS and MiM as backup options. They'll probably push you back by several years (since you'll be studying with freshers and junior folks).

What aspect of my application do I need to improve in order to get into one of Top 10 MBA schools?
I'm not sure how other applicants from Pakistan fare in terms of GMAT score, but from a global perspective your score is still on the low side.

If there's nothing else that you can change at this point in time, focus on getting the GMAT score higher than the average for your target b-schools.

It'll also be helpful if you can spread your choice of programs outside the top 10. There are many excellent options that aren't as highly ranked but can still do wonders for you career if you manage the experience well.
